Speaking of unannounced devices, one from Samsung just popped up online too. This one is the Samsung GT-I9405. It hasn’t shown up in a leaked picture…yet. But in the database of Zauba, which is a website that tracks Indian exports and imports. According to the listing on the website, the Samsung GT-I9405 is a single SIM “mobile phone” with a 5.5-inch display. Which was brought into India a couple days ago, precisely on January 10th, for testing and evaluation purposes.
And no, this is not the Galaxy S5 that’s due to be announced in mid-March. And since it’s model number is lower than the Galaxy S4′s (GT-I9500/9505), it’s possible it could be a low-end device, maybe another Galaxy Mega. We’re also expecting the Galaxy S5 to sport a 5.25-inch display, and not a 5.5-inch display. This device also can’t be a Galaxy Note because the Note’s all have an N number, N7100, N9000, etc. So this could be a phone between the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy S4, or GT-I9305 and GT-I9505. It’s unclear what exactly it might be. Maybe a Galaxy S4 Lite? Since that seems to be Samsung’s new naming scheme lately.
It’s also important to mention that the Zauba website had previously mentioned other unannounced devices that turned out to be real, including the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. So we may see some more details on the GT-I9405 very soon. Hopefully we’ll find out just what this device is. But it’s definitely not looking like a high-end device. But then again, I could be wrong. Maybe Samsung will announce this Galaxy device very soon. Alongside the Galaxy Note 3 Neo. Perhaps at Mobile World Congress next month? We’ll have to wait and see.
