Review MindFlex by Mattel

MindFlex has been around for awhile, but their appeals and commercials hasnt been around until recently (of course!). I have manage to get my hands on them and actually played with it for awhile. This toy is pretty fun even for me as even though the challenge stays the same, our state of mind is not.

What is this MindFlex anyways?

MindFlex is a toy from Mattel that lets the players to control a ball to finish an obstacle (almost) entirely with their mind. Shocking! Some people might not believe it, but it is true.

How does it work?

They have a sensor that is measuring your brain activity (necessary for gameplay), as you brain activity increases, the sensors will read it and sends the feedback to the machine. The toy itself has a circular futuristic look. The knob in the middle of the object is meant to control the ball left to right (wait, i though we are using our minds?!). Yes, your mind only controls the airflow that directs the ball for a higher or lower altitude. The stronger you think, the higher the ball flies.

What do you do with it??

There are actually a ton of things you cna do with MindFlex (to a certain extent). The piece came with a set of "obstacles" that is customizable, also, you are the one responsible for placing the obstacle. This means there are over 1000s of combos on how you can complete the course. Each "obstacle" piece has their own characteristic on how to solve, and all of the are possible to crack.

For example:
The ring - you have to loop around

The Gate - Go over or under

The Fan - the most difficult piece

The toy itelf came with a couple of pre-made game types. Free Style lets you play the course anyway you like without any time limit. Mental marathon is a race to see how fast you can complete the course. Light tag is positioning the ball to where the light is and death trap (which i do not understand how it goes)

The difficulty of the game depends on how you set it up.

Conclusion:

This toy is fun for the Think a lot kiddos, it also helps them control their own brain activity (pretty nifty!). They should find this toy very interesting since the possibility to "spice up" the difficulty is almost endless. For a price range of $70 ~ $100 its a good addition to have in your toy collection

Reason I havent posted this was because I havent got time to get a picture of the toy before it was taken away from me. Luckily a video was already made prior to this. Enjoy!

iOS 6 1 Untethered Jailbreak For All iDevices Finally

Its being like a million years just waiting for the announcement that an untethered jailbreak would be available for all devices.
If not for the delay tactics and games that Apple have been playing in the release of the iOS6.1 officially, there would have been a public release of the tool to jailbreak iOS6.1 untethered on all devices.

Apple on Sunday last week released a copy of iOS6.1 but not publicly even though it carries the look and build of the final version the OS. Perhaps, this was done in the hope that the exploit needed for the untethered jailbreak will leak out and then Apple can patch those exploits.
Well, the Evad3rs team (Pimskeks, Pod2g and Musclenerd) are not foolish as to fall for that kind of trick Apple is trying to pull.

According to the team, iOS6.1 appears to be vulnerable to the exploits they are planning on using to jailbreak untethered all iDevices on iOS6.1.
Also, there is also a hint from Musclenerd that this tool could be released on the Sunday, which is the day for Super Bowl.

Provided, all go as planned, then we should be seeing a tool released by the Evad3rs team capable of jailbreaking iPhone 5 and all other devices running the iOS6.1 software.

Till, then stay alert and dont just update your device carelessly so that you dont end up with bricked device.

Leak document gives out details about a ASUS made Nexus 10

The majority of the attention recently has been on the rumored LG Nexus 5, but it should be kept in mind that there is also a new Nexus 10 planned for this holiday season which will likely be announced along with the new Nexus 5. Android head Sundar Pichai reportedly said that the Nexus 10 would be made again by Samsung, but there have been persistent rumors saying that Asus would be getting the job.
A new leak points to an Asus-made Nexus 10 and possible pricing for said tablet. The leak is supposedly a snapshot of the PC World UK internal inventory system. The person who leaked the picture works for PC World UK, and claims that devices dont go into the system until they are "100%". The inventory listing doesnt offer a lot of info, just the name "Google ASUS Nexus 10" and a price of 349. Given that this is PC World UK, we assume this means £349, which is about $563.

The original Nexus 10 was priced at £319 for the 16GB model and £389 for the 32GB model when it was first launched. So, were hoping the price listed for the new Nexus 10 would be for the 32GB. The new Nexus 10 is expected to be announced next month, but we expect to see more leaks before then. Android 4.4 KitKat has been rumored to include laptop optimizations, which would work well on an Asus-made device if it is based on the Transformer Infinity and has an optional keyboard dock.

Is that a live photo of the Sony Xperia L4 and the Nokia phablet

We stumbled upon a blurry image, which allegedly shows the Rumorland-resident Sony phablet going by the name of Xperia Togari (L4). Theres also a Nokia phablet, which sources point could be named 1030 with perhaps a Lumia somewhere in the name too.

The photo allegedly shows the Sony Xperia L4 and Nokia Lumia 1030

The Togari could sport a 6.44" FullHD 1080p display and is supposed to be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor. The following image compares the alleged live shot against a previously leaked image of an Xperia devices frame and there are obvious similarities.

Sony Xperia L4 compared to previous leak

As for the rather interesting-looking Nokia device - it sporting a Lumia-type body in cyan we see a large device which can fit three medium-sized Live tiles. This could be the Lumia phablet device Nokias CEO himself has been mentioning.

The Nokia 1030 and Xperia Togari

Still the image looks highly untrustworthy given the presence of camera shake blur in the background and the lack of it in the Xperia L4 part of the image. Our gut tells us that it should be taken with more than the usual pinch of salt accompanying such images.

However, both prototypes pictured look quite plausible, so even if the image is fake theres an outside chance that it has been created by someone who has actually seen the devices in question.

Microsoft offers to buy your old smartphone or tablet for 250

Microsoft is currently running two promotions that might be of interest to people looking to get a new device and get rid of an old one.

The first one is a trade-in deal that can net you up to $250 worth of store credit if you trade in an old smartphone or a tablet. There are serious restrictions though – first of, the deal is for US Microsoft stores (including Puerto Rico) and Canada.

Second, it must be a working device, with no cracks on the screen, no water damage and you must even provide the original charger and other accessories. The device must also not be password protected (to prevent trading in stolen or found devices). The exact amount you get will be determined by a Microsoft Store employee. The deal is valid until March 2.

Another deal (this one US-only) is a Nokia Lumia 520 or 521 with a 12-month subscription to Xbox Music for $99 total. The Xbox Music Subscription alone costs $99 usually, while the Lumia 520/521 is $60-$70 in the Microsoft Store.

Both deals have a limit of one per customer and cannot be combined with other deals, i.e. you cant pawn your old phone and grab a Lumia 520/521 with the money.

Amazon Gets Rated 1 in Customer Satisfaction and Takes 30 off all Kindle Fires

ForeSee_V2._V364678483_

Amazon has been named #1 in Customer satisfaction, for the ninth year in a row ,during the holiday shopping season. This is according to ForSee Experience Index. Which that’s a big deal. The study was conducted between November 29th and December 17th, the survey asked select US Consumers to rate their customer satisfaction experience with the top 100 retailers. Amazon got a score of 90, which put them in first place. Normally, you wouldn’t care, but here’s why you should care.

Amazon has knocked $30 off of their Kindle Fire lineup. That includes the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch, Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch, and the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch. Now the Kindle Fire’s were already pretty cheap, but another $30 off of them is even better. This drops the price of the Kindle Fire HDX 7-inch to $199, Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch to $349, and the Kindle Fire HD 7-inch to just $109 We’ve got links for all three models at the bottom of this post.

We reviewed the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch a couple of months ago, and we were genuinely pleased with it. The only real downside is the lack of Google services. Especially for someone like me who uses Google’s services all day long. The hardware is really nice, especially the 2560×1600 resolution display on the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HDX. If you’re someone who is already in the Amazon ecosystem, this is really a good tablet for you.

This deal is only for today and tomorrow. You’ve got until January 11th at 11:59PST to act. All you need to do is enter the promo code “MAYDAY30″ at check out to apply the discount. How many of you are interested in picking up a new Kindle Fire? Let us know in the comments down below.

Major changes to the blog

So I talked about this change for a long time but it goes unnoticed, one of the things I wanted is to make the blog more professional for others to be able to know what is going on. I will focus on toys, gadgets and apps. Old post are not going to be deleted, but the content of the blog will significantly shift to a more focused group of topics. The reason Im doing this change is to ensure searches are more significant.

In short, the changes I made are:

  • Renamed the Blog.
  • Change the address.
  • Personal blogs will be at:  http://nbilzdy.tumblr.com/
  • Added a "Store" feature (will link to my ebay page).
The store will basically be where i may or may not sell the things that i recently reviewed. My personal blogs will be post of art, ideas and insight and even gaming achievement that I achieve overtime. I hope with your support, I can grow successful with this. As always, email me for any suggestions or comments.

iLauncher The iPhone and iPad interface on your Android

While I am a lover of the designs that Apple has implemented on the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 iOS after testing a while I have come to the conclusion that Android is far superior in terms of functionality, aesthetics and simplicity.

So I think the idea absurd to try to have the iPhone interface on our Android, although I must admit that I find the idea funny joke to some of those Apple fanboys friends.

Just imagine their faces with the thought that I have iOS on my Galaxy S3 and think this may cause indignation I find it quite fun to try iLauncher, a theme for Android that allows us to mimic the operation of the Apple operating system .

Among the features of iLauncher highlights the fluidity of the user interface, something you do not see in other free options, and the ability to interact with icons moving them anywhere on the screen.

Also this launcher offers a dock favorite applications located on the bottom, a search page, folders, deployed iPhone style, shortcuts to your favorite pages and support for tablets in iPad mode.

Prototype LG Nexus 5 appears in a 7 minute video with a early build of Android 4 4 5 0

After letting us catch a glimpse of Android 4.4 KitKat and some of its new features a couple of days back, Google Nexus 5 made another unofficial appearance. This time around the upcoming LG-made smartphone left nothing to imagination by starring in an extensive, seven-minute long hands-on video.

The device in the video above is likely an early prototype, as it sports a “not for sale” sign, as well as lacks the large, landscape-oriented Nexus logo we’ve seen in previous leaks. The Android version on it is dubbed Key Lime Pie, so it further suggests the pre-production nature of the smartphone.
Furthermore, the upcoming Nexus 5 got caught in the Global Certification Forum database, sporting category 4 LTE connectivity which will allow the handset to reach network speeds of up to 150Mbps. This particular capability will help the Nexus 5 make a case for itself in Korea, where LTE-A networks are all the rage these days.
The official announcement of the Nexus 5 is imminent. The smartphone is expected to break cover before the end of the month. GSMArena

Sony NEX 3 and NEX 5 camera bundle prices out for Asia Market

Sony has announced the price for the NEX-3 and NEX-5 models.

Package Price
Sony NEX-5 with 16mm pancake lens S$1,199
Sony NEX-5 with 18-55mm kit lens S$1,199
Sony NEX-5 with 16mm and 18-55mm lens S$1,299
Sony NEX-3 with 18-55mm kit lens S$999
Sony NEX-3 with 16mm and 18-55mm kit lens S$1,099

The price is comparative to competitive brands.

One thing that attracts me to the Sonys offering is the 16mm f2.8 pancake lens that translates to 24mm field of view in full-frame.

But as a long-time reviewer, I do not simply buy the stuff by gut feel.

To make things trickier, all the competitive products have their own plus points and issues.

So its not a matter of "which one would I want to buy?", but rather, "which one do I get to own?"

I currently use a Samsung ST550 compact camera. Its such a fun camera and I get my daughters attention to get that shot. Though Id prefer Canon S90 for its overall image performance, I wont go and buy one because I already have a compact camera.

I am also contemplating getting an underwater camera. It would be a fun gadget for my daughter. Afterall, its waterproof, shockproof, weatherproof. So I can let her have fun without fear of bruising or dirtying it. A couple of models are out there, and Im narrowing my choice to the Sony TX-5 and the Lumix FT-2. I like the Sony for its design and touchscreen, but prefer Lumix for the features.

Oops, Im digressing. Bottomline: Ill cover more about the NEX cameras if I ever get my hands on one.

Xiaomi Zimi may be unveiled on the 5th of September

Xiaomi has begun sending invitations out for a September 5 announcement, in which the world expects to see a first from the chinese manufacturer. While the announcement is not specific to any device, it’s believed we’ll see the new Xioami Zimi. The 7-inch tablet from Xiaomi has been spotted on occasion, and appears to be ready for a birth announcement.

Specs have not been confirmed, but could end up being typical Xiaomi. A quad core Nvidia processor is said to be behind the full HD screen, and a 13MP rear camera. No word on RAM or memory, and since we’ve heard radically differing tales, we’ll wait for official word from Xiaomi.

While we’re not quite sold on tablets with cameras, this all promises to be another really good Xiaomi device. With most device manufacturers, the last thought is usually “yeah, but how much is it?” Xiaomi hasn’t really given us reason to doubt them on that front: they usually bring a great product to market at a very reasonable price.(AndroidAuthority)
